Christmas Party Dress – The Conclusion

Bebe Black strapless DressAfter a long walk down Robson St., I took a quick peek into Bebe.  And, right there was the dress!  It was like a light was shining on it and the voice of Josh Groban was belting out “Alleluia!”?!?! What!?!? Anyway, the dress fit perfectly.  I didn’t wear the belt shown in the picture.  I did however pair my black strapless dress with red peek-a-boos and black clutch.   Would you believe there were over 1000 people at this party?  1,890 people – to be exact.  I spotted quite a few recycled bridesmaids’ dresses.  Not that it’s bad… I mean, I was going to do the same thing too.  It’s just the shopoholic in me that can’t allow me to wear the same dress twice.  So sad, I know. And, with regard to my purple dress post, I was right!  Almost everyone had worn a purple cocktail dress.  Another popular look was the leopard print.  With Robert Cavalli’s recent H&M release, it’s no wonder so many woman showed off their wild side with the animal patterns.  All in all, I was happy with my choice and the party was real fun.

Seven ChiChi Styles for Winter

1. Extra Long Scarf:  Whether it’s a knit or a silk scarf, I’ve always been a fan of this simple accessory which adds an instant glam factor.

2. Blazer over a cocktail Dress:  While we associate cocktail dresses with femininity, why not switch it up by adding a masculine touch?  A black tuxedo blazer matches just about every color in the rainbow.  I suggest a cropped style, rather than a waist length blazer.

3. Dip Dyed Tops/Dresses:  This is in no way associated with the typical hippie tie dyed look.  I’m seeing a lot of dipped inspired styles which are quite subtle and simple.

4. Knee length dress + skinny belt: Last year it was all about the fat leather belt.  This season we’re seeing a lot of skinny belts synching the waist and adding a great shape to the female form.  A popular material for this winter is the patented look.

5. Nude Heels: Whether you opt for the peep-toe or a typical pump, nude is the “it” color.  Not only is it a great everyday shoe, it also helps elongate the leg.

6. Plaid Pants:  I suggest if you’re a bit heavier on the legs you not attempt this trend.  The plaid will only make you legs look larger.  However if you are like 5% of the skinny women on the earth, then this trend will add a rock & roll chic to your wardrobe.

7. Jeweled Necklines:  A great way to add sparkle to any outfit.  There is no need for a necklace as your neck is already crested with bling.  We’re seeing many stars wearing the long sleeved Alice + Olivia dress with a sequined neckline and cuff.

Paige Denim – the ultimate fit!

Why is it that most jeans are targeted for women who are a size zero?  Paige Adams-Geller had an idea to create a line of jeans that actually fit women.  I thought it was so clever of her to create an online interactive fit guide.  You go through a series of questions which then lead you to several jeans that would suit your body type.  Paige jeans are the new Seven’s or R&R’s, they are getting popular with celebrities such as Lindsay Lohan, Kristen Cavallari (Laguna Beach) and Christina Applegate.  Your best bet is to purchase the jeans online: http://www.paigepremiumdenim.com/ Click here to try the interactive FIT GUIDE: http://www.paigepremiumdenim.com/fit_guide/index.html

Glitter Pump – Christian Louboutin

The sparkly shoe!  What are your thoughts on Christian Louboutin’s Glitter Pump?  They may seem like too much but for $690 I sure hope those sparkles stay on.  If you do decide to purchase this shoe or one that is similar.  Keep in mind that the shoe is the focal point, so keep your outfit simple and clean.  I would pair these with a pair of dark, cropped skinny jean and a jersey knit balloon sleeved sweater in deep grey.

Why?

Oprah just recently aired her 2007 Holiday Favorite Things episode.  Being on a favorite things episode is one of my all time dreams!  It’s up there with winning the lottery.  One of her faves was Rachel Pally’s Swing Turtle Neck and Sailor Pants.  I’m sure they are very comfortable, but c’mon… I would not be caught dead in that.  They look like pajamas with a touch of 70’s dinner party wear. Oprah inspires many women all over the world.  If she told people to eat a cherry everyday on a plastic spoon… they’d do it!  Why?  Because, Oprah said so.  And, as much as I love this woman, her love for these over sized clothes will lead to a wide spread of woman looking like those yip-yip-yip aliens from Sesame Street

Trend Alert: Cropped Leather Jacket

A funky way to accessorize a long tee this fall would be with a cropped jacket.  A popular style since spring ’07 was the cropped leather jacket.  Cameron Diaz was first spotted wearing a Mike and Chris creation.  I love the cropped jacket with a hood.  With winter coming soon, most crops are veering toward a tee or wool fabric which works great over long sweaters or long sleeved dresses.

Ouch! Would you wear these?

Oh the things we do for fashion. Antonio Berardi Created this extreme pump? Shoe? Something?  These just hit the runway and while it may turn heads, I highly doubt they’ll catch on.  You’re basically tippy-toeing as you walk!

From Sex to Barbie

Our beloved and well respected stylist, Patricia Field, has been asked to design a line for the famous blonde bombshell, Barbie. We best know Patricia Field as the award winning stylist from Sex & the City.  She admitted that she herself was not a collector of Barbie Dolls but once asked to create a line for the ageless Barbie, she could not resist.  Richard Dickinson of Mattel confessed that he had long admired the work of Patricia and was anticipating the opportunity to work with the fashion icon.  The makers of Barbie have a reputation of asking top Fashion Designers to create a Barbie using their own unique style. As children, I have no doubt that these now successful designers once created master pieces for their own doll.

love-love-love T-bags

T-Bags Founded in 2000 by friends Shadi Askari and Su-lyn Tay, T-Bags is a contemporary fashion line that says, “Look at me!”  What I love about their clothing are the bold prints and wonderful patterns.  I’m a big fan of “loud” styles.  I usually buy outfits with weird-awkwardish prints.  The first time I heard about this brand name was on an episode of Newlyweds (Jessica Simpson & Nick Lachy).  Jessica was trying to explain ~”Tea Bagging”~ to her sweet mother.  After the episode, I looked up the company (thank you goggle) and I soon became a big fan of this super sexy, body flattering line.

Fashion Designer: Lauren Conrad

My devotion to The Hills and its main character Lauren Conrad is sad, very, very sad.  I’ve watched her since season one of Laguna Beach.  Deep down inside I believe that she is one of my closest friends!  I know, sad.  So, you can just imagine how excited I was to find out she came out with her own line.  While her collection only has 11 pieces, they are without doubt stylish and fresh.  Her style is tres California Chic, and the prices are comparable to that of banana republic or Tristan.  My personal fave is the Audrina Dress.  A White, short, draped panel sided dress.  She named pieces after her friends which is clever as many fans may flock to certain items because they’re named after Audrina or Lo.
